A daguerreotype is a unique one-of-a-kind photographic image created on a silver-plated copper plate known for its mirror-like surface and high level of detail. Invented by Louis-Jacques-Mande Daguerre in 1839, it was the first commercially sucessful photographic process. Photograph taken by early photographic process employing an iodine-sensitized silvered plate and mercury vapour.

9cmH x 7cmW an atmospheric family photo with soft decorative copper framing. A really beautiful piece.
